Despite music, dance, and entertainment, this year’s St Luke’s Church summer fair will be remembered for the sun, fun, and smiles, says Andrew Burdett.
John Rutter, the world-famous composer and conductor, spent an hour in conversation with the St Luke’s Music Festival artistic director, John Cotterill, for the seventh event of the fortnight.
After the second concert of the church’s 2015 Music Festival, St Luke’s (Maidenhead) vicar Sally Lynch said In Voice And Verse had “brought Shakespeare to life”.
Two years on from St Luke’s Church’s inaugural Music Festival, the two-week long event has returned. Tonight, the Festival Orchestra opened the fortnight, playing under John Cotterill’s baton.

The whole of the Easter break had come and so nearly gone without any one of us spending so much as an hour at Cliveden. Clearly this needed to be put right.
A barbecue for tour members (and a few members of the choir’s alumni) brought the choir back together after, ahem, just four days apart. So what have we learnt after Taplow’s latest social function?
Making a welcome return after a couple of years amiss, the latest January social evening at St Luke’s took the form of a ceilidh. Andrew Burdett put on his dancing shoes.
Fast becoming an annual Christmas tradition, our annual Waddesdon outing is one that I will gladly repeat in 2015.
