Making a welcome return after a couple of years amiss, the latest January social evening at St Luke’s took the form of a ceilidh. Andrew Burdett put on his dancing shoes.

Visiting Stratford to see the Royal Shakespeare Company’s production of new play ‘The Christmas Truce’, I was delighted to find it intelligent and poignant, and yet highly accessible.
Somehow, tucking into extra helpings of turkey at the Christmas dinner table seems forgivable because, by noon the next day, I’ll have walked off the excess with the church Boxing Day ramble. In theory.
