Although I missed the fireworks at last night’s grand Christmas Lights switch-on, I could easily hear them from the nearby Magnet Leisure Centre. Soon afterwards, I walked into the town centre and was pleased to see that there was still a busyness on the High Street (in past years, the final rockets have been taken as the cue for everyone to leave pronto). As well as the usual fairground rides on St Ives Road, temporary stalls along Queen Street were trading jewellery, books, and toys.
