2012
Through a contact, I arranged a rare work experience placement with Baylis Media Ltd, publishers of the Maidenhead Advertiser (ABC: 18,907; Jan–June 2012), as well as its sister Express series.
My main assignment was a Page 10 feature article on Twitter usage within Maidenhead (below), requiring me to conduct research and interviews – as well as organising photoshoots – to compile my article.
During my week at the Advertiser, I also attended a court hearing, spoke to victims of vandalism, and helped report on the selection of a new town-crier.
“Andrew was a pleasure to work with. He is fully capable to work on any story when briefed. He is articulate, friendly, and always willing to go the extra mile. I was particularly impressed with his writing skills which, in my view, are well above the standard for a Year 12 student.”
