Back in 2011, I wrote a short post about visiting my nonogenarian neighbour to wish her a happy Easter. It’s a tradition that we Burdett offspring have long maintained, as we have at Christmas and around our birthdays, becoming honorary grandchildren (or perhaps that should be great-grandchildren) in the process.
Sadly, at the age of 99, Dorothy now lives in a Maidenhead nursing home. But the ritual exchanging of chocolate goodies continues: in thanks for the Quality Street eggs her daughter and son-in-law had sent last week, Matthew and I went around with a bowl of sweet treats, causing Dorothy’s face to light up!
Dorothy seemed thrilled with the chocolate goodies we brought her.
