Furze Platt Scouts at 100 – 28 September 2011

SMILING FACES_Furze Platt Cubs, with their centenary badges on their jumpers.

In 2007, Scouting celebrated its hundredth birthday, and my Scout Group (Furze Platt, Maidenhead) celebrated thirty years of its Scout headquarters on Cookham Road. Tonight, at St Peter’s (a church with which Furze Platt Scouts is affiliated), a service was held to celebrate a hundred years of the group itself. There, uniformed Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Explorers, and leaders past and present, sang hymns and listened to tributes from former members (including Seth Munn and Ray Tucker). Sadly, Marion Edkins (the Group President, and one of the main organisers of the service) was unable to attend due to poor health, but others had travelled from far and wide to join us on the evening.

Below are a selection of photographs taken. You can find even more here. Here’s to the next hundred years of Furze Platt Scout Group, eh?!
