In Pictures: Vicarage Garden Party – 23 August 2014

At the St Luke’s Church vicarage, Revd Sally hosted a garden party this afternoon to raise funds for the church. With a glass of Prosecco on arrival, the event had been given a ‘Glitz and Glamour’ theme, and many of the attendees had dressed up for the afternoon.

FPSS Year 13 Prom – 23 June 2014

A fantastic finale to our time at Furze Platt, the Prom did one especially brilliant thing: it cleared the air. In the dying days of Year 13, the usual strong sense of community had somewhat collapsed. Tonight, though, it was very much alive and well.

With its candle lit, Andrew Burdett was delighted with the cake father Richard had made.

My Late‑eenth Birthday – 22 June 2014

A birthday in late-April is no time to hold a celebration (examinations begin in the early weeks of May), but two months on, my late eighteenth birthday party was blessed with wonderful weather.

Five years after the family hosted an evening boat party to mark Mum’s 50th and Harriet’s 18th, I picked this Sunday afternoon to hold my very own. With me engrossed in revision, Dad had done the vast majority of the organising, although I came up with the finer details: deciding on the menu, compiling the playlist, and suggesting a ‘Henley’ dress code.

Singing Evensong at St George’s Windsor – 14 May 2014

Taplow Youth Choir – of which I am a member – tonight sang choral evensong at St George’s Chapel, Windsor. A quality performance, it delighted one tourist.

My Proudest Achievement: Queen’s Scout Award – 27 April 2014

Anyone who knows me really well will know this: I’m not an overtly proud person. Yes, a picture of my enormous head sits at the top of my blog, and yes I occasionally over-hype my latest web content. But when my tongue is not buried deep within my cheek, I hate shouting about my ‘achievements’.

Today, though, I “can be rightly proud” of what I have earned: the Queen’s Scout Award.
