Andrew Burdett reports on the closing night of the Christmas Tree Festival, held at St Luke’s Church, Maidenhead.
At the end of the St Luke’s Christmas Tree Festival, it’s wonderful to have welcomed such a range of people. Young people. Old people. Sunday-morning regulars. People who’d never stepped foot in St Luke’s before. All had come to admire the Christmas trees on display.
I’m exhausted, but really rather pleased. The latest edition of InSpire is done, finished, and printed – and, best of all, it’s ready in time for Christmas.
Half an hour to go before the big switch-on, and a woman is pushing a trolley down the High Street. It’s fully laden with dozens of twinkling battery-powered lights; a dazzling aray of coloured...
